SIC-007   SICILY, Manfred 1258-1264, Messina, billon denaro 15.2mm, 0.54grms.  Obv. +MAYNFRID: IN FIELD, .R. below an Omega, Rev. +SICILIE REX; in field S on cross.  Quote from MEC "The reading of the legends of this rare type is not clear, being largely off flan.  According to Spahr, Manfred's name occurs on the side bearing the S in field, but he could not illustrate a specimen in his catalogue, and had to rely on a bad drawing.  Travaini's reading was based on a clearer drawing in Marks 1858 and is closer to the reading here, though emendation in the future may be required.
